Welcome to Andre Erving Global. Twenty years ago, I started a journey in transportation, but I had no idea what I wanted to do. But I knew transportation was the direction I was going in.
Of course, it didn’t work as planned, so I went to college instead and got a degree in Computer Science. After completing college, I looked for jobs but was offered an entry-level position that paid around $9.00 an hour, which I didn't find satisfactory.
So, I started working as a contractor in IT, which paid me more. I ended up creating a mobile computer repair company called Cheap Squad. If you're in Chicago, IL, I may have even fixed your computer before! Long story short.
Everything was going well; I couldn’t complain. I had IT contracts and had so much work that I needed help. I built a business; life was good. But then I thought and said, what about the journey I was starting in transportation?
I took a beating to myself and decided to pursue my journey in transportation again. I had quit pursuing my ultimate journey and started another as if I were a quitter. Things happened, circumstances, whatever it was that happened, I had to double back on my journey in transportation. I sold the company.
Fast Forward - Here’s how my journey started
I am in trucking driving school getting my commercial driver's license (CDL), and I am still trying to decide which career path I want to take. I completed the program, and I have a CDL now. I went out with a trainer for 30 days over the road, and he taught me how to drive a semi-truck.
This guy was cold; he taught me everything I knew at that time. I finished the 30 days, and now, I am a solo Professional Driver, driving over the road. I had doubled back on my journey and got into transportation just like I had set out to do.
I proved to myself that I wasn’t a quitter and could do anything I put my mind to. So, I completed my journey, the end!
Who am I kidding? - This is where my journey started
I got so good at driving that I became cold, just like the guy who had trained me. I transitioned to a Driver Trainer. Students come with me for 30 days now, and I teach them how to be cold.
I provided personalized instruction and constructive feedback to my students and aimed to instill in them the confidence and competence necessary to face the challenges of the open road.
My driver training approach was anchored in a professional tone, ensuring that the aspiring drivers not only grasped the technical aspects of the job but also imbibed a sense of responsibility and professionalism, which is essential in the transportation industry.
Forget about that. My journey started here
As I embarked on another journey, I progressed in the trucking industry. Again, my dedication and hard work paid off, allowing me to become an Owner-Operator.
This moment represented my career's growth and gave me the sense of responsibility and independence that came with it. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in transportation; I could make decisions about my schedule and routes and take my business to any level I wanted. This purchase was a testament to my commitment and determination to succeed as a professional truck driver. I have now started another business.
Seriously, this is where my journey started
But I needed to figure out how or where to get loads to haul. I didn’t have a trailer either. I searched and asked around and stumbled across the term Freight Broker.
I had to figure out what this was and how to get in touch with one or become one since this was the person who could help me get loads to haul. I searched around again and stumbled across Freight Broker Training.
I reached out immediately and asked how much it was to train me. I followed through; I am now a Freight Broker Agent working from home. My truck was still sitting, collecting dust. I was not mad because I was still making money brokering freight. I didn't have to drive now.
Wait, my journey started here
So, I am now traveling around the country, brokering freight on my laptop. Me being me, I
said why not open a freight brokerage instead of working for one.
I took a bold leap again, and now I’m a Transportation Brokerage Owner. This move expanded my thoughts; I could foster an environment where I could provide opportunities for new and existing freight broker agents and let them thrive.
But where was I going to get agents from? I had to find people who wanted to broker freight, train them, and let them be agents for my brokerage.
I don’t care what you say; my journey started here
On my downtime, I created a virtual one-on-one course and became a Freight Broker Trainer. I also found a driver for my truck and figured out how to get power-only loads to haul. I am not driving anymore; I have officially retired from truck driving.
I am now brokering freight for my brokerage, training students online virtually, and keeping my truck running. I started getting so many students who signed up for virtual training that I had to create an online course; I couldn’t keep up. I created the online course; people signed up left and right, and the students asked if I offered in-person training.

I listened to my students and created specialized training programs in Atlanta, GA, and Chicago, IL. These programs are tailored to the needs of current and future students. This training program focuses on Freight Broker Training, combining online and in-person hands-on learning opportunities. Students can attend in-person training for 1 to 6 weeks; the longer they are with us, the better off they will be.
My training teaches you how to become a freight broker and start your own freight brokerage. You can expect a fully equipped learning environment when you join me at one of my locations. Each student will receive a computer, phone, and business email during training. This will ensure that you have all the necessary tools to succeed.
While in training, we will guide the students through the process by demonstrating each step. This hands-on approach enables them to gain a deeper understanding and build confidence. They will then be allowed to practice and complete the steps, reinforcing their learning and practical skills.
My journey as a freight broker trainer has been an enriching experience. I am passionate about opening doors for anyone interested in learning how to broker freight. Together with my dedicated team, we offer guidance and support as students embark on their own journey to success. Where is your journey going to start?
While on my journey, I obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in business. Everyone always says “multiple streams of income.”, but you never hear people saying “multiple streams of knowledge.”
You can not get multiple streams of income without having multiple streams of knowledge. I figured this out before I had the computer business.
In school, we had a discussion question to answer at the end of the course, and we had to respond to classmates. It was a simple question that said, “Looking Ahead, where do you see yourself this time next year.” One of my classmates said, “I want to start a business, but I am waiting for the right time.”
I replied to her and said, “I think you should start right now if you can; it will never be the right time; you have to make it the right time. You will have plenty of time to make adjustments after you get started. If you don’t get started, you will not know what you need to succeed. So, get started, try things out, see what’s working, and adjust as needed.”
It's exciting to know that your journey can begin from anywhere. This is one of the things that keeps me motivated every day.
